So he signs the will over....that heavily implies he suspected his wife after the first incident. And he still ate/drank shit she prepared?? I know there are plenty of other things one should get hung up on here before that but what the hell....
If she ends up in jail, the sister gets his money, and the kids end up out of her hands, then it's avoiding the worst outcome but surely there was a way out of this that involved not dying...
Yes, it would have required him to be a man and hold his wife accountable. From everything I saw about the story is he knew all of her doings and still just let the inevitable happen. Now those kids are fucked for life because they have no parents instead of the only one that cared about them.
Filing for divorce, even with proof of the other spouse misbehaving... The courts will STILL favor the woman in divorce settlement.

He easily could have pushed for criminal charges after he was dosed. She would probably get a sweetheart deal but it wouldn’t allow her custody of the kids, most states have it as an immediate deferment on custody rights.
Maybe, I don't know the details of the original attempt. If solid evidence was there sure... but I imagine if solid evidence was there, then she'd already be in jail.
If she can make any of it sound like an 'accident', ah jeez.. he'd be completely screwed for trying anyway.
One of the shitty things divorce lawyers tell guys if they KNOW their wife is acting out of pocket, is to hire a Private Detective and get actual evidence which can take months or longer... Otherwise, you're losing everything.
Whereas the girl can just walk up into court crying and make up whatever story at any tiime and take more than 50%.... Half the time their fucking story is just them crying while ambushing you with divorce and using your reaction to being blindsided as their evidence...
You don't need to divorce to physically separate.
There's nothing he could have done that wouldn't have thrown his life away. if he beat the bitch to death or burned her alive or just filed for divorce those all basically amount to suicide.

Why not? His life is over regardless, whether through divorce or rightfully killing the traitorous whore anything he did would be his death. The best thing he could have done would have been a murder followed by becoming an anti-woman and anti immigration martyr by going on a shooting spree until the cops kill him.
