Body cam utterly destroyed the narrative around "police oppress black people". It vindicated the "racists" a thousand fold. Even the most reluctant normies were starting to see the truth on this.
Something that troubles me is the best looking most realistic looking AI videos are body cam AI videos even at this fairly early state of AI videos.
So the powers that be will inundate and flood video sites, and twitter with fake body cam footage that will suit their narratives.
Tons of fake body cam footage of white people, tons of fake body cam footage of cops being abusive towards black people.
The ace in the hole that was starting to work and people were waking up; it's discouraging that we're about to have that scene in the Running Man where they show fake footage of Arnold's character committing murder to get the audience to turn on him.
Yeah, I think you're right. There could be a point where the AI videos outnumber the real ones 10 or even 100 to 1. Considering it can all be automated, that's not unreasonable.
The average person trying to stay educated on politics does not have enough time to sift through all that and accurately determine what's real and what's fake, and if we get to that point, then what's real and what's fake might actually cease to matter. Considering many people vote exclusively based on skin colour and sex and superficial soundbytes, in many ways we're there already... not to mention that voting seems to be increasingly artificial.
With the decline of corporate media and the rise of social media -- with its global reach and lightning fast distribution -- AI-engineered videos are set to have exactly the effect that basically all of us expected they could. Manipulating us into a race war where we're painted as the aggressors despite us, our countries, and our cultures being the absolute, one-sided victims in all this... well, fuck. I'm going to go lift some weights.
There's already fake videos with real people in police costumes, and people fall for those all the time
The major body camera channels on Youtube are all 100% authenticated though, and they rack up most of the views.
I've started to see this exact problem happen with truecrime. Some people are skimming a few thousand views off the slackjawed soccer mom audience with AI truecrime videos using faked scripts and faked security cam footage. It'll be interesting to see how far that goes. The major harm so far, imo, is the discoverability of quality channels just starting out, although one could argue that they might stand out against the background of AI.
People developed cynicism before AI came to be. All AI content has tiny bits of uncanny valley that instantly gives it away. It's also almost always on-the-nose and the scenarios are too one-sided to be believable.
Yeah but won't people just start faking the hate crime videos too because they're more believable and conform to observable reality better? Granted there won't be as much demand because the regular raw footage is in high supply but they could always try to pretend all the bad stuff is deep fake since it lets them be lazy and they love being lazy.
Honestly.. maybe its best to show the world fake AI videos of cops beating up blacks. Maybe less africans will come if they see or hear stories how they will be lynched??
Maybe thats the play.
Just because police have gotten better at hiding it doesn't mean it didn't or doesn't happen and that applies to everyone not just those chimping out.
The videos that get pumped out are selectively chosen to make the cops look good and the other people look like idiots with astroturfers in the comments section.
I've seen "racist cops" and "authoritarian cop" compilations and videos and 99% of the time it's standard police behavior.
Sometimes the videos will be cops dealing with one of those sovereign citizen types who hasn't committed a crime but is an extremely obnoxious smart-alec. The comments praise the guy as "standing up to the authoritarian pigs" who happened to be put off by his attitude, but if it were any other profession, nurses, restaurant workers, etc they'd tear the guy to shreds for the same intentional disagreeable-ness and needless oppositional attitude.
Those comments would say "nurses, waiters, plumbers etc have it hard enough without this guy making their day worse.
Well that applies to police too. They deal all day with people lying, giving attitude etc.
If you're innocent and get pulled over just be base level of civil and things will go easy instead of taking a highly obnoxious attitude.
Like I said Ive seen plenty of "look at these authoritarian cops" videos and for every 1 where it's like "yep that's a clear cut case of douchebags on a power trip" there's a hundred where the cops attitude would be totally different if the subject innocent or not didn't jump out the gate acting foolish.
Now I hate when cops enforce bullcrap like COVID mandates and other unconstitutional things.
But that's an issue of most people are a mix of not brave, and not critical thinkers and that problem is universal, not exclusive to police.
What you've said doesn't have much to do with my reply.
The difference there is the police can be obnoxious and aggressive and assault and kill people without justification and then have vermin in the comments praising them on any one of those retarded bodycam channels.
