Men gain access to reproduction by becoming better men, as mediated by women. Men strive to become Chads and reap the rewards. Holding other men back doesn't work because a single Chad can impregnate all the women in the tribe. They also gain points for appearing sincere in their advice; which makes it more convincing. A great way to do this is to actually appear to be following their own prescription. Further, it doesn't matter if women understand what they are doing or not. The only thing that matters is that they have more babies than the competing females. In many cases the whole game works better if they are just acting on instinct and emotions.
