It don't work because the men end up leaving the society and build their bloodline in foreign countries, where they have more power than the natives. Then their old society end up conquered by foreign men since it have no protection because the majority of the men left, like the fall of the Roman Empire. Or the men rebel and destroy the society like can be seen with the French Revolution.
