This is correct... so much of it is either jank or trash.
There are only a few indie games I wholeheartedly recommend to people that aren't some trash cash-crabs, and those are
Forgive Me Father 2
BeamNG.Drive
Ruiner (a sequel is coming, and it looks great)
Midnight Fight Express
Everything else is usually meh, okayish, or eurojank.
Now I'll support a lot of eurojank, just to put dosh in the hole-filled trousers of a Slav, but it's mostly so they can build a functional, proper sequel for their next outing (or get bought out doing so, like what happened with SpinTires/Mudrunner).
"But I can drive 100 different shitty vehicle simulations in my game vs. only 1 actually fun one in your game. 100 is bigger than 1 so mine is better!"
I was following along until you mentioned space engineers.
Lmao, im a bit jaded because of personal reasons (getting baited by a mod and perma banned prolly 10 years ago now).
But holy fuck, you cant call keen software a indie developer bro, hes another dean hall, just a fleecer of gamers.
So many promises with se1 and just never delivered, much like his game before that miner wars. All these grand ideas but half baked implementations if they even get done at all.
"Cosmetic" dlc thats developed along the updates and sold for like 14$, theres like 200$ worth of packs now is there not?
Sure SE2 looks ok, it looks like what they promised in SE1, but ill wait another 10 years (if im still alive anyway) and buy it for 5$ on a christmas sale.
Keen has been running his gamedev scam for like 20 years, hes not a small time guy just trying to make a passion project.
Haha to the suckers that bought medieval engineers.
This... is a pretty good comment i wont lie

As a fan of "generic" 2D platformers that "have been done a thousand times before," I find your statements incredibly dismissive and snobby.
"Oh, I prefer games that accurately simulate atmospheric pressure." Okay, fine. You do you. But is it fun?
