What's better than playing a game with 7 friends? That's time well spent. The game gets very complex with that many players, and we do commander, it's a relaxing mental exercise that helps fight aging.
Catan got old and mtg is timeless. If it wasn't mtg we'd play some video game so we'd never even meet up and hang out on discord instead.

It was fun, but all this woke slop came with equally retarded mechanics, mostly based on Arena, in order to have each new set trump the last one.
I use to play with friends every weekend for years and I could get by building weenie decks out of the last few sets so long as I got creative. Now, if you don't play the meta constantly, you lose.
Yeah the power ramp is real, it's Hasbro's way of selling to the old fans while doing shit like spongebob and tmnt to attract new players. Its greedy but the effect is gone entirely if the group allows proxy cards. Its also interesting to play against a newer pre-con even if its OP.
And the "woke" stuff is literally nonexistent to me. My proxy's have Aragorn from the films. Or you could just ignore the rcae swaps, or not let them ruin your experience of PLAYING A GAME WITH FRIENDS.
