If the truest of fans would risk making it not woke enough then was Star Trek always woke?
Pick one leftists.
Btw I fall on the side of yes Star Trek TNG was woke and I imagine the future ones were as well.
Star trek TOS which is the only one I like was NOT woke. It had slight liberal tendencies very rarely but not at a degree higher than average tv.
Heck Andy Griffith show in the first season had more feminist messages than Star Trek TOS.
Star Trek TOS was absolutely chadly in its depiction of the sexes unlike later Star Trek shows like TNG (the only other trek show I watched to be fair).
Star Trek TOS was more or less twilight zone level in terms of occasional liberal inclinations. I'd never call twilight zone woke. It was mostly rooted in universal objective morality, same as most of TOS.
TL;DR I believe Star Trek was ALMOST always woke. TNG was completely woke when you consider it's a late 80s - early 90s show.
TOS and it's respective movies (1-6). Nu uh leftists, sorry, but you don't get any claim on those ones.
Rod Serling admitted to lying to the studio about inserting liberal political messaging into The Twilight Zone. He wrote an episode about a new Hitler, getting orders from the old Hitler.
I like the Twilight Zone, as well. But let's be honest TZ was woke. It is also good stories, it's great propaganda. And again this isn't speculation Stirling admitted it.
TOS had an interracial kiss, and the whole episode of aliens eliminating each other because their blackfaces were on different sides. And the actor is cheesing it up when ne announces it to Kirk. It's so clioe to breaking the 4th wall, and just the actor saying directly to the audience see how silly racism is. But not woke.
We all have soft spots for woke things that we saw before our noticings, but that doesn't change that they are woke propaganda. I love Trek and TWZ but they are woke
So if star trek was always woke, then why are they so certain an OG fan wouldn't make it woke?
Because of how the Overton window has moved over past generations. Someone who was woke in the 60s and didn't change their opinions since then would end up standing far to the right of the GOP establishment, like a more extreme version of what happened with 80s democrat Trump.
Plus there's the cultural vandalism angle. Can't hire someone who loves a thing when the goal is to destroy it.

Interesting corner they've painted themselves into.
