probably justified depending on if you ask a Protestant or a Catholic, but both factions were white christians. Whichever side was justified was mirrored by the injustice of the other, ergo evil was being done by white Christians.
Catholic child abuse is dwarfed by other secular institutions.
Witch trials are historically only brought up in the same way Mcarthyism or the inquisition are. They're painted as mass random hysteria rather than responses to actual evil.

For the catholic church, it's the one I'm saying is exaggerated. Christian Theology SAYS that man is fallen and will sin. Thus all institutions will have sinners who do unspeakable things. But if you have a group that deals with responsibility over children and it does evil with them at a rate below other institutions it's highly relevant.
Kind of like calling me a pants shitter on the basis that I have shit my pants, and saying it's irrelevant that calling somebody a pants shitter is generally reserved to adults, while I was a baby.
Claiming that white Christian groups have never done evil isn't something I think most would argue. Many WOULD argue however thay their track record is better than society at large, and that it's held to a different standard because of all the winning.
