This isn't a purity spiral. This is relocating zero aka dragging the Overton Window. If not being a doormat is bigotry, then being a doormat is "neutral".
Saying that you think a book adaptation should look like how it’s described in the book gets you that label. I remember when WOT show came out I got called a white supremacist for criticizing the casting
I think the cat is well and truly out of the bag when it comes to the activist shell game of "adaptation". They pull the same shit with localization and translation. No one believes their excuses for making so many bizarre and unnecessary changes anymore. It's just deliberate vandalism of beloved IP.
Yea, one of the latest excuses they use now is “to reflect the world as it is now”. My response is your job is to reflect what the author wrote
