I'm a bit surprised. Leftists have been the driving force for D&D and it was very successful.
Not necessarily players but just leftists larping as geeks. Try talking to one having a D&D hat about settings and they will look at you like Internet Explorer loading a picture over dialup.
Same people care not about any rules or rule change.
Is the buzz fading and larpers moved to something else? If anything Stranger Things season 5 should have given them a boost.
As for players, I always expected to be low effort with little investment.
How much of their profit is merchandise?
Is it the Chinese making cheaper and better looking miniatures and even merch like mouse pads or shirts?
Yeah I joined a tabletop club last year who also organizes D&D. All the people playing 40k and AoS are chill guys but pen and paper is just a complete freak show of noserings, blue hair and trannies. One wore a palestine shirt ffs. Recently I found the first online campaign by streamers that somehow is actually very enjoyable to watch
Bandwagoners and larpers likely left then. "Those" leftist types that are too selfish, lazy, non committal and too gay or weird that even other leftist don't wanna play with em.
The long term dnd players are still leftist, but look at the traits one needs to actually make it through a massive campaign.. you actually have to be a responsible adult that's easy to get along.

I had to put more diclofenac on my hand after reading that.
