They fool the men into thinking there's something more than there is. The men often get false hope and lie to themselves about the woman's actual care for them. It's a scam... No different than the Nigerian prince who tells you if you keep sending money, he'll repay you eventually. Keep sending the OF girl money and she'll fall in love with you eventually (but she won't).
