The whole everyone is racist but we can’t be! Meritocracy! Is not only self defeating, it’s a lie about the concept of meritocracy itself. If the majority of every minority hates the concept of meritocracy then it will never exist when they are the majority. Conservative pundits are so tone deaf that they just spout Reaganisms which have failed massively which is why we’re here now. Meritocracy can only exist if the overwhelming majority of the population believes it, that’s not the case. Even crowder is using the “I’m not worried about being a minority if they don’t abuse me!” Schtick today. We are watching the death of American culture happening right before us and conservatives are saying “well at least I’m not racist!”
Tower of Babel remains undefeated and supposed Christians are racing towards it gleefully because they think compassion is the same as suicide.
50% of people will hate meritocracy no matter their race because 50% of people will always be below the other 50% no matter what. Universal suffrage democracy and meritocracies cannot work together. Meritocracies can only exist in societies where the people who run things are your best people (nobility) and your lesser people have no say in running the society.
Those people should still understand (and did, at one time) that having the best people doing their best for the whole is good for everyone.
Nobody hates baseball because the best player gets to pitch and they're stuck in the outfield, they understand that it's where their level of skill can do the most good for the team.
People need to abandon atomic individualism and understand that what's best for you, personally, is often not what you feel you want.
That would be more feasible if we had a functional economy (and we could have one tomorrow if we threw women and foreigners out of the workforce). It's a lot easier to be content with not being in the top 10% if you can still live a dignified life. That's why the bottom is falling out of both the labor and dating market. If you're not getting a reasonable return on your effort then there's no point.
I don't think they ever did understand this. This is the line the top 50% throw to the bottom 50%. The only reason things used to work is the bottom 50% never had enough power for it to matter. Then, in the last 300 years, the power switched such that "socialism" and its derivatives became prevalent so the bottom 50% started to take from the top 50%, ending meritocracy.
You'll dealing with a team full of the top 0.00001% of players in the world. I think these guys understand meritocracy. I guarantee there's plenty of people in the world who think that if they were raised differently that they too could be an elite pitcher and that the only reason they aren't an elite pitcher is because the elite pitcher had better opportunities than him growing up.
This is human nature. No one will abandon this. People must be forced into a meritocracy.
I like "the idea" of rotation baseball: every player shifts positions each inning. You move through the positions by number until in 9 innings you've played them all. Limited substitutions required.
It'll never be a thing though, lolz! Wildly unstable games with either huge scores or almost no scoring, depending on how many pure pitchers are in the game. There'd be tons of errors too, especially at catcher.
