I've got a friend with a college degree (BA in English) that I had to explain how to use an electric coffee grinder I got him one Christmas.
"Dude, how does this work?"

Those sound like completely reasonable questions from someone who has never used a coffee grinder before.

Yes. Were you born knowing how many beans to grind for a cup of coffee? Even in your 'absurd' counter example, were you born knowing how much salt makes something 'too salty'?
