Universal suffrage democracy is trash. Restricted suffrage democracy is fine still. Essentially, any society should maybe have 10% of its population capable of voting (the male aristocracy, essentially). No one else should be allowed to vote.

A monarchy is comparable to a private family owned business where the family will lose everything if they fuck up while a democracy is a publicly traded corporation where no one is held accountable.

There's nothing stopping a King from owning foreign businesses and having all his prosperity tied to foreigners.
