AI does plenty of jobs already. Most customer support now puts you through to an AI before anything else. Amazon uses robots in their warehouses. Websites use AI images instead of hiring artists. Many similar cases abound.
No, they can't. Companies are cutting positions (some of which were already redundant) and trying to claim that AI is replacing workers. It isn't, the jobs just don't get done.
They can float this for a while but it's not sustainable and they'll have to backpedal within the next few years.
Time will tell. Remember your prediction when the jobs don't come back but continue to get cut over the next few years.
