From the thread I read the other day, she's basically a hipster. Only people that want to wear glasses for a fashion statement, don't get their eyes fixed. What doesn't add up is why they would let her be a captain then.
Fuck you. I just got my first bifocals. I don't trust the modern ... I can't even call them health care providers anymore! ... to not damage my eyes or even blind me. I'll stick with my tools.
She obviously needs them to read; you're going to have a captain who can't see the console display trying to find her glasses while her ship gets blown to shit?
Just because this lady wears some glasses Jordie suddenly doesn't matter? Jordie couldn't see without his eye band but still did his job.
In regards to reality in an actual combat situation she would stay in her command chair and have the consoles read out to her so she wouldn't need her glasses anyways.
Lolol no, I wear glasses too. My comment was about the future, when the show is taking place. That's the actual lore some Trekkie on Twitter was giving out
Is the captain a hipster, or did they lose access to lasik technology at some point?

Lmao this is the future, not 2026
Modern pilots are not required to get LASIK and she's not even at the helm so why would that matter?
WhY dO yOu CaRe?

Aside from reality, it's objectively cringe.

Yes it is cringe.
I'd assume the future would have stricter standards, especially with something that is curable for free in a couple of minutes
Lol do young people really look at me and think this??

Ah. I suppose I had zoned out of the context of the comment when I wrote that lol
That was my next question, lol
Taking off your glasses while telling a joke is such an old trope.
Yeah, I think it's some sort of tech gadget, rather than actual glasses. But that struck me, as well.
