I'm not criticizing him for his former opinions on Gaza. It's the mindset. "This culture deserves to be eradicated because it doesn't allow people to be gay." coming from the so called right. When I saw him say that, I was just thinking how far the 'right' has sunk to say this sort of thing.
I also wasn't impressed that he backed both Iran and Venezuela. But as you say, things are quite bad.
He seems astroturfed. Having opinions like that is a sure sign of a compromised rear guard actor. I doubt he backed down on Gaza for sincere reasons. He's just seeing how much shilling his audience will tolerate.
Given where I've been, and given where the European right is, I find it more believable that someone would think that sincerely. If you buy Israeli hasbara and proactively make their excuses for them, there's no reason not to.

Not sure why you think that. It long predated Bannon if you think that's the issue.
You may not find it credible why they support Israel, but it's not much beyond words and diplomatic cover. It's also our only salvation.
