Starting off with a The Who song: They sit in judgement of your wrongs.

Get to know them, probably more than before.
For the team, I and AoV will still be around for assistance, guidance, and suggestions if you want them. You should still set up a chat on your side in the event of outage or communication difficulty.
If you haven't modded before, I've given you full permissions, so take a look around. We can eventually restrict access if you'd prefer so that you focus on your specific areas, like only working on the sidebar.
Just to checking in. I've got a few things to do this morning, but wanted to let everyone know I saw this, and acknowledge it.
As u/BandageBandolier said, please let us know what your feelings are on moderation (aside from mods being fags, that's a given, and has already been pointed out.)
I can't speak for anyone else (we're not that organized yet!), but I for one am not here to take over, or change things. I just want to keep things running smoothly, and take out bad actors when they pop up. Not here to police regulars, or their speech, outside of when they occasionally go full schitzo.
Hope everyone is having a good day, and I might do a more detailed introduction later.
The only real problem this place had was the long delays in dealing with trolls and spammers. Should be a thing of the past now, assuming you lads aren't all in the same timezone. Even then, it would be a significant improvement.
Main reason I wanted mod status, and wanted more mods in general.
We've all been good at coexisting over the years, and I have no interest, and see no need, in trying to moderate discussions among regulars here. But I want the ability to nuke the obvious bad faith outsiders, when they pop up. It was a massive failure that these people, who were never part of the community here, were allowed to have so much impact, for such long periods of time. There's no excuse for that, and it was just shitting up the board when it happened. My main goal is not letting that happen.
Assuming none of the new mods go power hunger (I think it seems like a good bunch, personally, and don't expect major problems), it will be a change of the better. We'll see what people want to do, but it also lets us open things up a bit, as the previous filters didn't let anyone new in, pretty much.
Sounds good to me. The previous asshole's sole interest was targeting regulars while doing nothing about the pajeet, bluestorm, or whoever the spammer of the day was.
I think it was more an issue of him being inactive for long periods of time, not that he was specifically covering for or targeting anyone (outside of a few exceptions.)
But, yeah, it was obnoxious him moderating month old comments and temp banning regulars for very minor things, after letting actual lunatics run roughshod for that same month.
It just wasn't consistent.
Mod logs are in the side bar. Can be prettied up later, but the links are there.
I'll see if I can do that, still getting used to things here.
And, when stickies are working again, I plan to make a sticky with the modlogs link, too. I've always said that should be a thing, to help keep mods accountable.
For now, here's the scored mod log, which has the most functionality, as I recall:
https://scored.co/c/KotakuInAction2/logs
Consider a community filter for the terms:
"Foid"
"Age cuck"
"Forced child marriage"
"Married off at puberty"
I think you know who this refers to.
I don't think we've had an issue with him in ages.
Interestingly...he fucked off right after community filters were implemented, despite not getting caught in them. At least that's my interpretation.
But, yeah, we can adjust as needed. Nice thing about having active mods. If it becomes a problem, we can always add terms as needed.
Personally, I don't feel the need for that to be official. You're totally welcome to make those threads, and see if there's interest. If there's interest in the threads, and in making it more official, they could probably be stickied though, yeah.
I'll try to check the mod logs and see if there's any blocks for you, but go ahead and make any threads you want, and now that there are regular mods, we'll be approving stuff that gets caught but doesn't violate the rules. So post away.
I'd like to know why Kaarous isn't banned when we know he's a paid influencer for the Project 2025 movement.
I've asked this question to admins, mods and everyone else I can think of, and nobody ever answers.
