Why are we giving the dictator a trial? Just put a bullet in his head and call it a day.
On paper: to prevent the abuse of being able to call any any leader a dictator and bypass due process.
In reality: to demoralize any supporters and spread it out across a longer time so there isn't a single event to galvanize them.
Okay, and when the activist judge dismisses the case and demands he be returned to power?
The judge is going to rule on the charges, not on returning someone to power. And yeah, if he isn't an activist, he's going to laugh these charges out of court.
If the judge rules that his arrest was "illegal" then what do you think that's going to mean? Sure, the Trump admin could just ignore the ruling but so far he hasn't ignored jack shit from these activist judges. If the court rules that his arrest was "illegal" then BY LAW he has to be released.
That's a pretty big IF in this day and age
Not even activist judges have the ability to return him to power. You just keep the charges and trials (with different judges) coming until your new regime is in solidified. They already got him to waive his right to a "speed trial."
Even if somehow he walks on all of them, none of the Venezuelans in power by that point will want to step aside to let him back in.
You think the US only kills leaders if they are "dictators"? Evidently, you're not familiar with Patrice Lumumba.
What does that have to do with this one specific individual who is, in fact, a dictator?
Because your "dictator" meme is retarded? What is the relevance even? You don't even know that your country installs and backs dictators in many places?
What meme? He was, factually, a dictator.
The relevance is that he was a dictator whose own people want dead, who we captured through a military coup. If anything the irrelevance is you getting so hung up on the word "dictator". What would you rather I call him " a leader with political differences"?
I love how me thinking they should kill this dictator who we have arrested and is in currently in US custody has somehow made you think I'm not completely aware of the very shitty things the US government has done around the world. Apparently in your mind it's not possible for a person to both be for killing people like Maduro and also be an American purely because our government has put people like Maduro in power around the world in the past.
