I suppose it's so Kara can be a foil to Clark. Superman was such a goody two-shoes boy scout in the first movie that he didn't even swear.

"Not swearing" is hardly a "such a goody two-shoes boy scout". It's basic social decency to speak concisely. Diverting halfway through each sentence to speak about unmarried copulation habits of female canines is an affront in its inefficiency.
