Ever noticed how modern Hollywood slop is so uncritical of the establishment? In Spider-man NWH, they made J.J.J a Spider-man hating Alex Jones type pundit. Realistically, the msnm would've sided with Mysterio, establishing him as a martyr. But media relentlessly attacking someone based on a fabricated narrative and potentially making the conspiracy theorist being right all along, siding with the hero, would've made too many people raise an eyebrow, I guess.
Same with The Boys, the first season is about celebrity culture, how the government conspires with arm dealers and corpos. Homelander is compelling because he tries to get out of that conditioning, even if his upgringing makes him twisted. So, of course they had to make him a glumpf expy in season 2 onwards
There's no massive social upheaval.
There's just massive upwards wealth transfers.
And occasional CIA false flags.
You live in a prison. To make honest art about this would force people to acknowledge this. So they won't. The struggle session is nearly over.
Definitely too much "Eat the Rich" astroturfed themes from champagne socialist types.
