Short answer, no. Long answer, no AND we should establish a Drone Corps.
Drone Corps would need benefits and awards to move up the ranks. Being able to sit in a chair that smells of everyone's farts is not one.
Also, we have space force and air force. Very remote work with benefits anyway.
I meant less the armchair guy and more the frontline drone backpack guys. Using drones in infantry warfare is developing by the day.
Yeah fly by wire drone operators seems like it will be a vital niche if signal jamming tech catches up.
Oh those. Ok. I sort of see it. I keep forgetting they're functional now. When they were part of the Future Weapon Systems programs it felt like the generals saw the prequels of Star Wars too much and wanted to play an RTS. I asked one if they combined and became a megazord. They were promoting future armor for soldiers as well, which looked like power armor from starship troopers. There was also a big promotion for blue force control.
It was as if the military got really geeky really fast, and a guy who had no idea was tasked with promoting it. Half of it worked in theory and needed a breakthrough in battery power to be useful.
Sorry, you hit me at a weird hidden nostalgia point.
That would be a very interesting military set up. I could see Space Force using it to be useful. Would grunts like it? They didn't like blue force controls.
Did you see Land of Bad with Russell Crowe and one of the Hemsworth boys? It's about a drone operator and a Special Forces soldier working together. I thought it was pretty good.
