Netflix to Buy Warner Bros. and HBO Max in $82.7 Billion Deal
It’s official: In a move that will dramatically reshape the entertainment business, Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery announced an agreement Friday under which Netflix will acquire Warner Bros., including its film and TV studios, HBO Max and HBO. The deal...
Trump wanted Paramount/CBS to buy it, but Netflix it is. Apparently this is just for the movie studios, Max, HBO, and the IP (the Cartoon Network shows, DC, the Game of Thrones license, etc)
The actual channels (CNN, TBS, TNT, etc) are getting spun off into a separate company.
If you’re a wrestling fan, you know by now that Monday Night Raw is on Netflix worldwide and that AEW is on TNT and TBS. I assume that AEW will have its deal honored until it expires in 2027 and then will have to go look elsewhere, as TKO/WWE will not let Netflix renew AEW in the slightest.
It's a good move for Netflix because Max is the channel I watch the most. If they kept the Scooby Doo shows, I would have watched more.
No, Netflix isn't buying the TV channels so AEW will make a deal with whoever ends up buying that- Netflix never wanted them.
It will have nothing to do with Netflix/WWE as it will be a completely separate company like it was before.
