Yeah. I don't want markets distorted to make my life easier, I want them to stop distorting markets in ways that make all our lives much harder, and much more purposeless. I want them to undistort their markets.
That's not entitled or spoiled. We're all sick of getting fucked by these pieces of shit. I love the idea of pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, and I'm onboard. But these demons need to unfuck the economy that they fucked, and let us do that, to a reasonable degree. Until then, it's just going to piss people off. It's right up there with 'let them eat cake.'
Between this guy's vision of "a barista job isn't supposed to pay a living wage," and the actual communist's idea that it should...I hat to say it, the commie is closer to correct, actually. I feel dirty, and he's totally wrong about the solution, but there we are.
No fan of strikers, either, and think they are often a bunch of spoiled retards, but if we're just talking which direction things should be moving in...it's actually not David's. Fuck David, all my homies hate David.
Also, this economic situation is exactly how you get mass and open communism (often followed by fascism.) It won't be me converting to communism, and I'll think those people who will are extremely uneducated...but I understand the anger and frustration. The economy and the "capitalist" (it's not capitalist) system has failed us, and done so in spectacular fashion. Not just failed, but betrayed. I get why each side will turn to more and more extreme and stupid economic policies, and call for more authoritarian strongman solutions.
"A barista job isn't supposed to pay a living wage." Maybe, maybe not. But everything should be more affordable. Fuck this guy. This shit only goes so far. If they were doing a bang-up job fixing the economy, we could talk. But they're not, and things seem to be getting worse for almost everyone. Presumably not David here, though.
To your point, Starbucks baristas - even the part time ones - had awesome benefits in the 80s - 00s, relatively good pay, and flexible hours. It’s not just focusing on how the job sucks now, but realizing that it was so much better just a generation ago.
We’ve lost so much, and that should make everyone left or right, mad.

They still have really good benefits and flexible hours.
