The "first season" of a renewal from a big nostalgia show is always huge, and this convinces the execs to keep it going because "everyone clearly loved it!" Only for the following ones to recieve basically a fraction of the views.
Look at what happened to Futurama, its happened multiple times to that one show alone and every time it becomes a joke by the time the S2/3 finish.
I'm sure plenty of idiots watched it, but I doubt they will return in nearly the same numbers for more.
Futurama’s original run is some of my favorite television of all time. I’ve liked every subsequent season less and less, and I didn’t even bother with the most recent revival.
I wish I hadn't bothered. Beyond the quality dropping in general I couldn't get over the fact that fry had a different voice due to the aging actor and he was more of a background character.
I think most of the original run is still good to this day, minus maybe a few stinkers I've forgotten that every show has.
Everything from that moment on has been trash, and the only times it wasn't trash was when it was deliberately trying to manipulate you like the episode with his Mom trying to ape the Dog episode.
I still can't decide of the Evolution episode, the Gay marriage one or the not-Obama one is the most actually offensive thing I've seen a show try to pull. Not throwaway jokes like Family Guy or South Park, but full on no subtlety liberal propaganda spots.
