I'd argue it's still pretty bad and that they did it in addition to the hellfire compounds their crimes.
Of course. It's still mass murder. But comparatively 'humane' mass murder.
That's like squashing a bug vs spraying it with poison I'd think. Both kill it but one is definitely a worse way to die.
