It's part of a domination cycle. The tribes are gaining influence, but the stereotype is that the Natives Lost easily to the amazing Powers that be. Unable to deal with the ideas of contradiction, they now say the stereotype is evil and they say sorry for being so much better than the losers.

It's a weird thing, but I see it all the freaking time.
