That's actually my point. I'm parodying her shit take. Luxury goods display status (pecking order, like hens), and possession brings sense of security and being provided for (survival). It's literal caveman psychology.
External influence doesn't tell you to buy luxury goods, they're trying to convince you that what they're shilling will provide highest expected social return.

Exactly. There are entire industries based around taking advantage of the insecurities of women. But while they may foment those insecurities they certainly did not create them.
