yes they call it height and weight, but it's BMI measure,
if you're fat on the scale, you get your height checked and they do some chart math and if you fail that you get tape measured, and they do more math, if you fail that, you may get scheduled for a water displacement test.
All that when a pair of human eyeballs would suffice.
My opinion: if you look a little fat, and can go, I wouldn't give a shit. But if you're fat-fat but still can go, you need to lose weight because some male soldier may have to carry your wounded ass, so don't be that guy.
Additional unpopular opinion, if a general is good at his job, think Subutai, then I don't give a shit if he can't pass a PT test or height and weight. But it is 2025, and we aint got Subutai we got DEI fatbutai and baby, it's time to trim the fat!

Personally, I think this should only apply if he was able to pass, and as such was provably capable and experienced at what he is now trying to lead.
A dude in his 50s+ can lead incredibly well despite being well past his physical prime, even if he tried to maintain it. But if he never had that prime to begin with, that's just a loser that no one should be asked to respect or listen to. Even if he is a master of all the mental parts of the job, you still need to be able to prove you are the man for the job, in a way even meatheads can understand.
