The swap-line? That's not giving money away, idiot. It's more like lending them money and telling them to pay us back with interest before a certain date. And the money being spent on illegals isn't just emergency medicaid spending either. I believe the total estimate is 451 billion spent each year on illegals, which would be around 8% of the entire federal budget (probably more than that even, when you consider other indirect side-effects that can't be easily quantified).
More than anything, it's an attempt to help keep Milei afloat because the Peronists are trying to seize back control over the country. The country is criminally in debt because of them, and the Globalists who support Leftism in South America want his government to die. So, as a result, they aren't going to let Milei defer payments. So, Vance and Trump are agreeing to basically buy Argentina's debt and service it to the US government's leisure.
The Left are attacking that deal because they know it can help protect him politically, and prevent Peronists from re-taking power.
They won't let him abolish the central bank (which has been crushing his voter base), because that's the only thing that can pay off the debts that they incurred. My only hope in this is that by buying Argentina's debt, we can ease the political pressure on him, and also use it as a weapon against the Peronists if they manage to seize back power.
