In my entire life I've only met one person who comes close to what you describe(unless the topic relates to the sexual activity of those under 18 in which case everyone seems to toe the party line to the letter and slander all those open to discussion).
Most people care more about their own wellbeing than they do about ensuring that someone of a competing group can excel, and immigration is one of those things with obvious and impossible to ignore effects with regards to wages and cost of living.
You must be quite fortunate then, because I genuinely do not know a single liberal who "would be happy to have all immigrants put to death, not just the illegals." I guarantee your anecdotal experience is an extreme outlier.
Out of curiosity, where are you meeting these people and what age demographic are they? Most people I talk to are on discord or VRchat and between the ages of 13-30,most of them are bisexual/prisongay, and they're being hit so hard by the effects of immigration that most are going against the party line on that issue.
Yes? I talk to them like everyone else, sexuality and politics naturally come up in discussion. If a male mentions that he has a new boyfriend and has previously expressed desire for a girlfriend then that alone is enough to tell me that he's bi, I'm not asking but if they mention notable life events I can't exactly go back in time to prevent them from speaking
Politics are tied into everything, plenty just want to vent about the state of their life(their complaints are almost always can be traced back to a societal ill, the treatment of which is inherently political) and other times it's just the direction conversations flow.
I think the infantilization of everyone under 18 is incredibly unhealthy and leads to nonfunctional adults. Everyone is so afraid of being labeled a pedophile that most have a strict do not interact policy with everyone under 18 or even 21 and so that leads to two very distinct social worlds with no transitionary period.

Wait, you're talking to 13 year olds on discord? And you talk to them about their sexuality and politics? What?
