Yes? I talk to them like everyone else, sexuality and politics naturally come up in discussion. If a male mentions that he has a new boyfriend and has previously expressed desire for a girlfriend then that alone is enough to tell me that he's bi, I'm not asking but if they mention notable life events I can't exactly go back in time to prevent them from speaking
Politics are tied into everything, plenty just want to vent about the state of their life(their complaints are almost always can be traced back to a societal ill, the treatment of which is inherently political) and other times it's just the direction conversations flow.
I think the infantilization of everyone under 18 is incredibly unhealthy and leads to nonfunctional adults. Everyone is so afraid of being labeled a pedophile that most have a strict do not interact policy with everyone under 18 or even 21 and so that leads to two very distinct social worlds with no transitionary period.
Ok, well you have a different social life than me. The liberals I know range in age from 20-65, and I meet them in real life through work, family, or other mutual acquaintances. Most of them are White, but they claim race (the White race, they mean) isn't real and immigrants are humans just like everyone else and refusing to help them is cruel, etc.
Their world views were formed when the problems were less life destroying, many of them have the luxury of knowing their death is near anyway, and real life social interactions are always higher risk because it's more likely to lead to loss of employment or being cut out of your family so everyone is only willing to speak the most milquetoast of thoughts IRL.
That's why I view anonymity as essential to the ability to speak freely and honestly. Without anonymity everyone filters their speech to be as low risk as possible, to the point that I'm evasive when asked about my hobbies it's all incredibly nerdy, niche and very autistic.
You can't take anything people say in person as being anything more than a façade of how they want to be viewed.
Yes, but I suspect the ones that are openly woke are being sincere. They express these views around people that they know are conservative, so they know some of the people in our circle disagree with what they say. Someone who secretly harbors conservative opinions would more likely just stay quiet rather than blow up the group chat with their rants about Trump and ICE.
Also, older people have more firsthand experience of how political policies affect our society, whereas teenagers, particularly ones who have never had to work a job or pay rent or mortgage, usually just echo whatever opinions appear to be trendy in their social circles. Younger people who are socially isolated and have a nerdy disposition tend to have much more controversial politics, however, because they spend a lot of time online and are already disillusioned with mainstream culture.
Wait, you're talking to 13 year olds on discord? And you talk to them about their sexuality and politics? What?
