The NSDAP, nor the DAP, ever prevented a Communist take over. Ever.
The Frei Corps and the Democratic Socialist Party did that. Moreover, the Frei Crops arrested Communist insurrectionists who would become leadership of the NSDAP later, including one Adolf Hitler. He got spared from mass executions.
Unfortunately, this would not stop Hitler from leading another Socialist revolution a few years later, and despite needing to be deported as a foreigner, he would lead a final Socialist revolution through the electoral process before his retarded war-mongering and inability to not commit mass murder utterly destroyed the country.
