Well I think the first question to be asked is do we actually know for sure that the exact portion of the roof he was on was under video surveillance? I’ve worked at multiple places before where rooftops have minimal surveillance so blind spots on top of a building wouldn’t actually be super suspicious imho. The grounds and interiors are typically far more valuable for monitoring after all.
But I think there’s other things to take into account too. For example the audio of the shot itself from bystander videos has a sonic crack sound which means the round was traveling faster than 1,125 ft/s. So that right there eliminates a lot of potential guns from use.
Obviously we could argue that the guy on the roof volunteered to be the fall guy and just randomly shot high while some covert more silent weapon was deployed nearby. But then we’d have to come up with a theory to explain why a bullet matching the rifle on the roof was found fragmented inside Charlie’s body and the real bullet wasn’t. I guess we could argue that Charlie’s security was giving hand signs to coordinate the attack and hide the evidence, the doctor was in on it and did surgery not to save his life but to swap the bullet out and the FBI was in on it to hide contrary evidence and ensure Tyler got the blame or something… but that raises lots of other questions…
In my mind the simplest answers are often the correct answers and if it’s at least possible that the shot came from Tyler and the math works out showing the bullet starting out with 1,748 Joules of energy, dropping to 1,296 J prior to impact, 964 J after the first bone and then to 723 J, 542 J, 406 J, 304 J, and finally breaking apart at 228 J without enough kinetic energy to further penetrate bone… and if the Tyler has motivation, a confession, a weapon matching the bullet, dna evidence from the roof, was seen coming and going on camera, the audio matches the type of weapon used and even the rough distance, the angle of entry of the wound is correct, etc… I don’t see the need to assume it’s not accurate I guess.
Personally I’m far more interested in how the other trans people online seemed to know what was coming and if the roommate knew before hand or how things were leaked. Personally I’d assume that if this was an intelligence backed hit there wouldn’t have been so many loose lips prior to the event. And I’d assume that such a group would have arranged for him to die after so he couldn’t out them. At the very least they could have given him a weapon that wouldn’t have immediately made his grandfather start asking where his gun was and let him run free long enough to get caught. Tyler being alive is probably the single biggest reason to believe he’s not working with people who… don’t like loose ends shall we say.
So if that’s the parkinglot camera it’s highly unlikely that it captured the far left corner of the building’s roof sadly and we’re lucky the too right area of the footage happened to overlap with that bottom right corner of the roof so we could see his escape.
But if you’re referring to some other footage let me know. I know a student or visitor or someone on the ground captured some additional footage of him running across the roof to what appears to be his set up location but they didn’t keep filming so there’s no additional footage of that angle.
Oh thanks I hadn’t see that wider view before. So I stand corrected on that and my assumptions as to where the camera was angled. As for why it wasn’t released I’m guessing it simply doesn’t show much.
We’ve all seen how grainy and blurry the footage is of him hopping down off the roof when he’s at the closest point to the camera and with how small and blurry he’d be all the way on the other side of the building I’m guessing that it would be useless for any attempts at making an identification (which was the explicit stated purpose of the FBl in the footage the released).
Hopefully the full video will be released in the trial (or after) but I guess I’m not even sure what you’d hope to see in it. He did leave behind the screwdriver he used to assemble the rifle up on the roof and based on the video from the student he appeared to have been lying down so it’s hard to say what could or couldn’t be seen from that camera.

Yes, because that's where the video of him running is from. No there is no blindspot.
If you’re talking about the footage in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36GGQjHYv_E then I think if you look at this image https://static01.nyt.com/images/2025/09/12/multimedia/2025-09-10-kirk-shooting-spatial-index/2025-09-10-kirk-shooting-spatial-index-videoSixteenByNine3000.jpg you’ll see that the camera was actually set up to capture the parking lot behind the building Tyler was on. In that top down shot, location 7 is where he got set up and took the shot and location 8 all the way on the other side is where he was seen running across and jumping down.

This is the view angle the camera was capturing.

Do I need to say anything else?
