Left officials will secretly message tech companies to censor speech that they don't like, and cover it up so that it only comes out in litigation. So that even years afterwards, most people have no idea and the media can successfully cover up what they did.
Right officials will shout from the rooftops "HEY, YOU BETTER CANCEL THIS GUY OR WE'LL DO IT THE HARD WAY", so that even a voluntary decision to pull someone who is unfunny and has bad ratings will appear like government censorship.
The difference between people who want to accomplish something and people who are solely interested in their public image.
This isn't quite your dumbest take I've ever seen but it's pretty close.
You are literally, and I mean that literally, suggesting that being earnest is bad and wrong.
But then you're a leftist yourself so.
At best, he is saying that we shouldn't be canceling them at all. That we should leave our hands tied behind our backs and turn the other cheek to let them take another swing.
People still haven't accepted that this avalanche has already started. Centrists, peaceniks, and controlled opposition can shut the fuck up and get out of the way, or they can get run the fuck over. Our tolerance for the left has finally reached zero.
Usually the "use the left's tactics against them" position is pretty popular around this site, which is why I'm surprised that this post is not being received as well. I assumed OP was saying that conservatives are simply being performative rather than effective in their cancellation tactics, which is often echoed by a lot of others around here whenever they criticize the self-sabotaging behavior of Republicans.
EDIT: For the record, I actually am happy to see conservatives openly calling for the cancellation of leftists.
