Spoilers * * *
I should preference this with I haven't consumed the book or the movie. I just watched a couple of videos about the movie. They of course race swapped a few characters. One race swapped character was a man named Peter. In the book he's white in the movie he's black. In the book ending a man named Raymond is the final walker and he continues walking, hallucinating a dark figure he is trying to overtake. In the movie Ray sacrifices himself so Peter can win.
Peter uses his wish from winning to ask for a weapon. He then shoots the major overseeing the walk and walks away. So the race swapped black guy wins and it can be implied began a revolution against the current facist regime. I think the messaging is pretty overt here.
This likely happened with Stephen King's approval. He's as deranged as any other lefty icon and just as eager to ruin his life's work to suit their trendy narratives. Welcome to Derry looks the same, so far all of the teasers and casting would have you think Derry was a black town that somehow turned white by the time the original movie comes around. It's desperate, sloppy, and dishonest.
>White guy wins
>Hallucinates that he is perpetually still in the race
>Pushes himself harder and harder, likely until he collapses
>Black guy wins
>Blows his limitless wish on a shortsighted act of violence
>Ambles away aimlessly
What did Stephen King mean by this?
I'm assuming this book came out first but movie goers are going to compare this to how Hunger Games ends since that's what Katniss ends up doing in the 3rd book.
Rather than shoot Donald Sutherland's character who was the leader of the previous regime that caused all the suffering and kept the Games going, Katniss when offered her signature bow and arrow to carry out the public execution instead shoots Julianne Moore's character, the new leader of the revolution. This happens because Moore firebombs Katniss's sister and many others for entirely propaganda against Sutherland's character, made all the worse because Katniss' sister wasn't yet old enough to qualify for the revolution army, so her presence was signed off by someone insinuated to be Moore. Katniss figures this out when aiming at Sutherland who had told her previously he would never lie to her, so she turns and shoots Moore instead to avenge her sister.
And that Major's name ladies and gentlemen...Charlie Kirk.
