If you look up the full LGBT name, it also includes "Allies" as in, people who support LGBT but aren't themselves (Yes it's stupid, it completely goes against the principle of the group in the first place, but hey, that's the left for you). So by their own standards, yes he is LGBT in this case.
In including "Allies" they get to control who is "in" and who is "out". A very female thing to want to do!
So even if you do follow all the rules? You can still be excluded if you aren't "an ally" which has no definition at all. Only the leader of the clique or a great majority can say which is which. :/ Plus it can always be changed later.
