It makes me wonder how transformative this even is going to be for the DNC as a whole. Not in a sense that it causes them to moderate, but that it causes severe evaporative cooling amoung thier rank and file as the more 'moderate' look around and start questioning 'Are we the baddies?', pack thier bags, and leave.
Resulting in the Left going even further batshit crazy.
Honestly, in the history of American politics, that sort of doom spiral usually leads to the destruction of parties and new ones rising up to replace them. Even as far back as the founding, where the Federalist were destroyed and it was decades of near uncontested Democratic-Republican Party rule because the Federalist destroyed themselves by being so anti-DRP that they openly and vocally sided with the British in the War of 1812.
I think there might be an actual evaporation. Maybe even a new party in a decade. God, I wish we could get some kind of "sane opposition", and maybe my grandchildren will have a "loyal opposition" one day.
