Did you think they were going to stop funding Ukraine? This wasn't taking advantage of a distraction, this was always going to happen.

You could be right, but Ukraine funding doesn't seem like something anyone in government was bearish about.

There's no need for a distraction. Trump could openly announce his support of an endless Ukraine war and MAGA would accept it happily.

I have no idea about the specifics, but the key word in this sentence is: "continue"
So the question was probably something like: "Should we stop stuffing money into the pockets of the most corrupt government in Europe?"
The answer was: "No. Do not stop delivering truckloads of taxpayer cash to those corrupt fuckers who give us kickbacks."
Guess the EU will still have to pay for it tho.
