William Tecumseh Sherman was one of the greatest generals in history. By whose "law books" are you saying he was a "war criminal"?
This is almost as cute as when you tried to cite the Trojan War, which purportedly took place a good 3150 years before the Geneva Conventions, as proof that Israel doesn't commit war crimes.
But yeah, the premise underlying this argument is invalid. You can be a good general and a war criminal. Look at your own Gen. Zaluzhny, who people claim is a good general.
HE was actually a very intelligent man. His letters and writings were highly praised at the time. He hated war with a passion, but knew that once it started, it was best to end it sooner rather than later.
Then you know that for all the scorn poured on Sherman, perhaps rightly, he mostly destroyed property and wasn't going around killing civilians and children. If Sherman could do that before all the treaties on war crimes, why can't Israel do that today?
The GOP begged him to replace Lincoln
I think you're getting your years wrong. I believe they tried to draft him in 1876, when Lincoln was long dead.
cite the Trojan War... before the Geneva Conventions
This is a lie. I did not cite it as being against the GC, I said it was an example of how civilians had been treated in many previous wars. Actual genocide, not fake. If you're just going to keep repeating the same lie, it shows you have ZERO foundation for your position. So just give up, eh?
Ah, that particular quote was from 1884. He'd served as Commanding General of the Army until then (69 - 83), so he remained that popular until long after the war ended. Good catch!
He did say something similar in 1871 though. His anti-war beliefs were consistent throughout his life, as was his belief that ending the war as fast as possible was the best outcome.
Can you show me how Israel should have done things differently? Like offer a 2 State solution? Oh they did that 3 times, each one signed by Israel & rejected by the leadership of Palestinians. How about a cease fire? Like the one they had on 10/7 giving Gazans extraordinary access to Israel for work & travel.
Any other hindsight solutions you'd like to offer? How about the dissolution of Israel, I bet you're all over that "final solution".

Yes, and you didn't even manage to realize that it was completely immaterial as it was way before the Geneva Conventions. Not to mention that it was... a myth. The Ilioupersis is not a historical record, buddy.

Apparently so, I got it wrong too.
Can you show me how Israel should have done things differently?
When? Right now? Not trying to ethnically cleanse Gaza and force its population into a concentration camp would be a start. Not using unreliable AI to kill people. Not murdering World Central Kitchen workers. Not firing double-tap strikes at a hospital because - they say - there was a camera there.
Oh they did that 3 times, each one signed by Israel & rejected by the leadership of Palestinians
Never signed. Offered, with terms that fall far short of a 'state' on less than 22% of the land of Palestine. Also, you just made up a third one.
That said, Palestinian leaders are thoroughly retarded as well, and very self-serving. Even a shell of a state would vastly improve the lives of Palestinians. Yet you don't need to like them to be critical of Israel and its war crimes.
Like the one they had on 10/7
Like they didn't have on 10/7, because their land was under blockade and was periodically bombed by Israel. Israel kills a multiple of a 10/7 every month, so I don't think you can continue citing it as justification.
How about the dissolution of Israel, I bet you're all over that "final solution".
How laughable that someone whose people were so deeply complicit in the 'final solution' would try to smear other people for supporting his people's new genocide.
Again you say he was a "war criminal" based on what? I asked that did I not? What laws or rules do you apply to his conduct? Are YOU basing this retroactively on the GC? At the same time lying about me doing that? Humm?

You are so full of shit. Have a nice day!
Imagine losing two discussions (that you started) simultaneously and so badly that you have to run away with your tail between your leg.
Again you say he was a "war criminal" based on what? I asked that did I not? What laws or rules do you apply to his conduct? Are YOU basing this retroactively on the GC? At the same time lying about me doing that? Humm?
I didn't. I called your Zaluzhny a war criminal, which he is. It might help to actually read a comment you reply to.
Who? You'll need to provide MY quote for a name I've never heard of in my life.
Dude, are you that stoned yet again? Honest question, how much pot do you smoke in a day?
Valeriy Zaluzhny, the former chief of staff of the military of YOUR (non-)country.
YOUR president Zelenskiy fired him because he was apparently not obedient enough.
Haven't smoked pot in my life. How much do you have to divert from discussions that you lose, just like your non-country is losing badly?
