During Dragon Con there were Pro Science and Medical Professionals who protested RFK Jr. I can't post those pictures because they are all personal from friends. Lots of catchy slogan boards and people over 50 who are certain they are on the right side of history.
Gotcha. Thats good to hear. The last major con I went to had a bunch of lefty crap so I decided to just do small ones. I remember Chris Gore talking about the big cons like San Diego in the 80s and 90s catering to nerds/comic book readers
I used to volunteer for security at DragonCon for a few years in the mid to late 2000s. It got worse and worse until I literally had to try and break up a fist fight between 501st and trekkies. I stopped after that.

I hate what Major Cons have become. I still work as a vendor at the small local ones by my place. Those are nice.
Major cons are a temporary theme park like Universal or Disney, not an actual convention. I've worked at both so I know.
The actual big conventions are still fun. Portland Retro Gaming Expo is coming up, and I still want to work it.

When everything went corporate, the magic went away. 2012 Emerald City Comicon or PAX was not 2016 versions of themselves it was very obvious.
Can't be on the right side of history until you are history. Wish they'd hurry the fuck up.
