I was watching Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and Guy Fieri was in Kansas City, KS. He was at a Mexican restaurant ran by a guy who was born in Vera Cruz, Mexico moved to California and then moved to Kansas.
The chef makes his dish, mentions Mexico about a dozen times and says nothing about Kansas. Okay, whatever I'm rolling my eyes but I'm calm. Then they start interviewing customers and some liberal white dude starts talking about supporting a local chef. Local? Local how? Dude is from a foreign country and is in his second state, how is he a local Kansas City chef?
Maybe I'm picking a linguistic nit here but it really bothered me. To really put an pin in my anger, Guy ends the segment saying come to Kansas for a cultural experience. What culture am I supposed to be experiencing Mexican, American, Kansasian?
Liberals have gotten as far as they have by exploiting the social sciences for all their are worth. One of those weapons is linguistics and the backflow they have into our psychology and thoughts.
So while it would be basic overreaction in a vacuum, we being bombarded by these little things all day every day. And we aren't immune to propaganda, no matter how woke to it we think we are, something will slip through eventually. So keeping paranoid might make us look foolish at times, at the gain of being more defended against it.
In this particular case, the liberal dude is using local interchangeably with "small business." In many cases those are pretty much the same, but as you noted in this case it isn't local in terms of what is being served. Only that its owned by a "local" dude.
Also, this isn't the 70s. There is nothing "cultural" about a Mexican restaurant, they are literally fucking everywhere in almost every town. Its like being impressed by a seafood restaurant.
Hell, he may not even like the food. The liberal mind does acrobatics that rational people don't catch because you have to be similarly fucked up to process. Their desperation to look virtuous by way of endorsing groupthink approved demographics drives them. Narcissism is their food and drink.
They could be served turds on a corn tortilla and they'll smile with it in front of them and post to Facebook and reddit about the wonderfully ethnic superiority of their frito chorizo mierda with caspa seasoning, washed down with traditional warm piss-tasting cerveza caliente especial.
