Just checked a few European countries, and this is in no way out of line. The US was definitely an outlier on this one. It's interesting that they doom-monger when they join the rest of the world. Why are they not complaining about France being anti-science?
Leftist Americans fetishize Europe very selectively. RFKJ is the closest thing we’ve ever had to a European-style food safety advocate, but you know, he serves under Trump, so now food safety is bad.
Also, Americans had a very uniquely hard time under covid tyranny because we pride ourselves as the land of the free. Sorta incongruent with draconian government lockdowns in order to stop the flu. So a lot of leftists suffered intense cognitive dissonance trying to reconcile those two realities, and the vaxx was the ultimate solution for them. Just get jabbed and you can go back to pretending you’re free! That conditioning is still operating inside of a lot of boomers.
When Trump got in, I remember a colleague ranting about how RFK Jr was going to remove the fluoride from the water and allow the sale of raw milk, and how bad and non-scientific this would be.
I live in the Netherlands. The Netherlands, for all its faults, has never had fluoride in the water (instead, most toothpaste is fluoridated, but you can also get non-fluoridated if you really want) and has always allowed the sale of raw milk. Sick of the rants, I pointed this out and he didn't believe me. I showed him the Wikipedia article on fluoridation and he went "huh".
People don't know what the hell is going on. The only time I had heard about 'fluoride in the water' is when (I thought they were) kooky leftists opposed it. I just assumed it was fluoridated everywhere in Europe. Turns out, it wasn't.
Raw milk is a different matter. Not sure why you would want that.

There's also every country in Europe having much harsher restrictions on abortion than most of the US.
