I'm okay with this. We can regress back to a wall hanging phone in the kitchen with a 50 foot cord.
Eventually people will just start making their own phones that aren't phones.

If communication devices can share the internet then a lot of the damage from these locked-down cell radios can be routed around, and no cellphones having any internet sharing capability will be really hard to enforce.
