I think his work is closer to actual post-modernism from the early 20th century.
It is an insane and absurdist take on reality that uses that meanness and insanity to actually force people to recognize the larger failures of society. The actual art, is in many cases, not being the actual spectacle of the art because what is being displayed is your inability to walk away from a trainwreck that you are pursuing for money and ego.
