Changing your pfp to clippy is textbook slacktivism and achieves literally nothing
Yet here we are talking about the clippy movement.
Look, I'd agree with you if it were just that, but with the stop-killing-games thing, and all the work louis does on right to repair beyond just the clippy, it's fine. Movements need little badges and bumper stickers and stuff.
Rossman's video calling Ross out for being tired & quitting was refreshing among a sea of sycophant do-nothings.
Exactly! Rossman is doing all the background stuff, and has been for years too, and calls out those who don't or who do it wrong. A bit of an awareness campaign in combo with the more important work is fine. Rossman is generally doing the right thing, there's no need to blackpill over clippy just yet.
I mean, it's a good way to see who is a fellow traveler. It takes five seconds to do (unless you want to get creative), and it could lead to a worthwhile conversation. Networking and finding like-minded people is step one.
A real-world example is bumperstickers. I have a sticker which is the logo for a particular website on my vehicle, and to people who recognized it, I got past the "fed tests" and to their real opinions much faster.
Yeah, I don't know which psyop is the legit one anymore :(

But the Stop Killing Games thing was very slacktivist as well.
Ross did a good job raising awareness, but the campaign was mostly stalled for years.
Then some leftist heel sparks some outrage and it goes viral, rallying to get a million signatures on an EU petition.
Then everyone shouts "We did it Reddit!" for signing a petition, watching Ross' videos & stroking him off in the comments.
All the while, the petition will do jack shit & Ross is already burned out & quitting before even maybe winning the 1st skirmish.
