I was a logistics specialist in the Navy. Counting things (inventory) is a basic skill that takes 5 minutes to explain. When to count, what to count, how often to count, that was the hard part that takes training and experience.
LS also does financials (managing the budget of the unit,) shipping and receiving, and a whole host of other stuff.
