The reason Europe hasn't had any plane related terror attacks is the same reason we haven't had any major successful attacks since 9/11, and it isn't due to TSA bullshit or not. It's because 9/11 got every airline to finally pull their heads out of their asses and start locking the cockpit doors to prevent highjackings.
It also had the side benefit of getting passengers to instantly panic and beat the shit out of anyone who even looks like they might be getting up to some shit, rather than being docile sheep led to slaughter. It's a perfect example of a problem being solved from the ground up, which is the only way they ever get solved.
