According to official figures, there are 30 million more men in China than women. Those are CCP numbers, so that means unofficially it's probably much worse than that.
Combine all those angry young men with China's historical tendency to alternate between being brutally subjugated by strong rulers and exploding into insanely huge rebellions with massive body counts and it's no wonder they're hesitant to face this issue.
There is only one historically tested way to solve the problem of excess male population, and if you have 30 million of them to get rid of, it's going to be a pretty massive fucking war.
Are they though? Of all nations, China has the most practical power to solve that problem by force if they have the will to do so.
