I live relatively close to a city that's nationally famous for being a crime-ridden shithole. Pretty much everyone who lives there is one of three types:

1. Younger far left NPCs who wouldn't stop praying to Almighty Diversity even as they're being culturally enriched by a pack of future engineers.

2. Boomers who remember The Good Old Days and have conditioned themselves to be unable to see what's happening right in front of them.

3. Criminals.

Everyone else has left.

I don't think groups 1 or 2 are evil, but I do think they're sufficiently stupid that their continued existence is a threat to humanity and I don't feel bad when they get hoist with their own petard. The entire city could be wiped out and the only thing most people would mourn would be the house pets and wildlife who tragically lost their lives.
